AACUHO - Australasian Association for College and Housing Officers
In 1988 Australasian ACUHO was formed with a commitment to support the professional development of all those
who worked in any form of post-secondary student housing. The Association became an incorporated body in
August 1990 and the first AACUHO Conference was held in Armidale in 1989. It has been a successful annual event
ever since. In 1993 the Australasian Region of ACUHO-International was officially recognised.
Today AACUHO's commitment to its members remains just as strong and its vision is to be the premier professional
organisation for all who work in post secondary education accommodation, in any capacity, in Australia, New
Zealand and South East Asia. ACCUHO is overseen by a committee of professional representatives who are
employed in the industry from across Australia and New Zealand and are dedicated to helping AACUHO reach its
vision. In recent times, the AACUHO Committee has been intentional in its aim to extend and develop networks with
relevant Australian and international organisations in order to foster stronger relationships, which ultimately benefit
our membership. Outcomes of these efforts include extending an invitation to international delegates and Australian
industry professionals and associations who we have not formally engaged with in the past to attend the 2012
AACUHO Conference. Other initiatives include member outreach functions and regular communications via e
newsletters. The focus on this will continue as we strive to provide valuable and relevant benefits to our members.
