Students at I House have also won the $10,000 Davis  Projects for Peace grant, issued from New, York for four consecutive years.  Students and staff will talk to delegates about the iLive Program and future plans for student development.  A light lunch will be served. Second stop:   Marketview Located in the middle of Wollongong CBD, Marketview, the newest of the UOW residences was purchased in 2011 (previously operating as the hotel IBIS Wollongong) and will operate as  student residence from  February 2012.  Over December 2011 and January 2012, Accommodation Services kept Marketview open as a hotel and will plan to operate this way each year.  Students living at Marketview will enjoy the high level of student support offered by UOW Living.  Delegates on the tour will hear from student leaders, staff and have a chance to look around this 144 room, self catered student residence.  If you wish to book a place on the day study tour, please do so as soon as possible via the conference registration form. Final Stop - Mission Australia - Big Heart Finish the day on a high by observing and participating in some innovative recycling programs at  Mission Australia's Big Heart enterprise at Bellambi.   Established in the Illawarra 20 years ago, Big Heart now includes eight 'op' shops that provide high-quality, low- cost clothing and furnishings. It also runs accredited training programs in forklift driving to the long-term unemployed. Big Heart's base at Bellambi is now home to a range of enterprises that provide local jobs and training and reduce landfill. Among them is the Soft Landing mattress recycling operation and Featherweight, which produces padded sports equipment from old mattress filling. All money raised from the sale of clothing and other items is directed towards Mission Australia's non-funded community programs. Excess clothing is distributed, through Mission Australia services, to homeless, disadvantaged and people in need. All Big Heart stores are committed to environmental sustainability and responsibly recycle 100% of the clothing and goods donated to us.   Some of the outcomes from Big Heart include: - Over 200 tonnes of clothing exported to overseas markets - Saving over 400 tonnes of product reaching the tip face - Working in community partnerships to help re-skill and retrain those   in need - Helping up skill volunteers - Recycling point 16 Bellambi Lane, Bellambi, and 30 clothing recycling units located throughout the Illawarra - Six Big Heart Op Shops and one Factory Seconds Warehouse offering good affordable clothing, furniture, computers and a range of general merchandise. With the amount of left over clothes, furniture and other items left in student residences at the end of each session, including old furniture and mattresses, this visit will be particularly relevant to student residence staff looking for potential recycling programs. At this visit, delegates will tour the warehouse at Bellambi, find out more about the recycling programs that are taking place and have a chance to give back to the community by contributing their time and input into one or two of the programs.            AACUHO International Study Tour 19 - 24 April 2012  Silver Sponsor Exhibitors
